Ruairí Connolly, formerly of Ruairí and The Owls, is a Dublin based musician. After taking a break from music, Ruairí is back with his first single under his new project ‘Haha Hear Hear’.

Haha Hear Hear is an alternative rock output of Derry’s Ruairí Connolly (Ex Furlo, Ruairí & The Owls, Rescue The Astronauts). Currently based in Dublin and after taking a break from the music scene, Ruairí’s hard drive was filling up with home demos. He therefore decided to book in with Darklands studio’s (Fontaines D.C, Coolio, Damien Dempsey, Denzel Curry) and bash out a few songs with producer Dan Doherty jumping behind the kit. The sessions resulted in a handful of high energy, gritty distortion driven songs, wrapped in angst fuelled lyrics and melodic hooks.

Ruairí opened up his wounds to tell us “‘The Problem With Ghosts’ is about the trials and tribulations of a long distance relationship. Trying to make things work, but at the same time feeling uncertain about the future and fighting doubts it’ll all fall apart.” Who ever the subject of the song is, we’re sure they’re one very special person and that true love will win through.

This is also a departure for the enigmatic musician, as Ruairí explains “The new stuff’s got a lot more attitude to it. I’m channelling my inner Jonny Rotten/Joe strummer.” He then continues, “For now I’m releasing music and getting it out there. The feedback’s been amazing so far, it’s blown me away. I’ll be releasing the follow up single ‘Demons Don’t Sleep’ in July 2024 and I’m currently putting the finishing touches to a handful of new demos. Over the next few months I plan to get back into the studio and tackle them.
