In what must be one the best lineups in Glastonbury history, rock legends Guns N’ Roses have been announced as Saturday night headliners.

Guns N’ Roses feels like a big coo for Glastonbury, a festival that has overtaken Reading/Leeds as the UK festival to attracts the big American rock bands.

Slash at Glastonbury

Last time a Rose appeared at the festival, Slash was with his solo outfit fronted by Myles Kennedy. Slash’s slot clashed (or should that be Slashed?) with an England world cup match, so it wasn’t quite as well attended as it should have been. But for fans his festival set became a rare intimate gig. It was also a party, with people dressed-up as the top hat wearing guitar god. At the time, I was torn whether to see watch England or Slash. However, my thinking was if England won I’d get to see another game but if I went and they lost I’d regret not seeing one of my guitar heroes. I made the right decision, England lost 4-1 to Germany and I saw Slash.

Glastonbury festival 2023 lineup poster

For Glastonbury 2023, the excellent doesn’t stop there. In what could be considered a rather testosterone filled line up, other headliners include Elton John and Arctic Monkeys. This year Glastonbury also boasts Yusuf / Cat Stevens in the Sunday legends spot, Blondie, Manic Street Preachers, Royal Blood, Alt-J, Fatboy Slim, Sparks and sexy the Italians Maneskin. This is possibly the heaviest, most hardest rocking Glastonbury since its inception.
